The two photos first and second above these comments are of the Cochrane estate. Although the Leggats built a new home in its place, the copious grounds have been preserved. Photo three-above, The Burlington Golf and Curling Club. Photo four-above, aprox. 496 Northshore Blvd. E. and the former home of Dr. C.C. Hopmans, Orthopaedic Specialist and the Chief of Surgery at Joseph Brant Hospital in the 1970's. Photo five-above was taken at the southeast corner of Edgewater Crescent and Northshore Blvd. E. If this home is still there its not the same, for example the stately large pine trees appear to be gone. Photos six, seven and eight are of the Cooper mansion.
ReplyDeleteThe two photos tenth and eleventh above these comments are of another Gatsby-esque mansion at 684 Northshore Blvd, E. formerly owned by Don Green founder of Tridon Ltd. Mr. Green skippered his sailing yacht Evergreen to victory in the 1978 Canada's Cup, defeating the U.S. team and returning the Cup to Canada. He was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 1980.
